7 Radical Decisions That Can Turn You Into a Better Person

7 Radical Decisions That Can Turn You Into a Better Person

There comes a time when you’re just sick of what your life looks like, and you know you’re part of the problem.

It might be your attitude or bad habits, and if you’re ready for something better, I’ve got a handful of practical advice para ti.

Where did I get all these from? Experience.

I’ve been the disliked, misunderstood person at some point in my life. When I recognized the problem and started doing these 7 things, my whole life changed for the better!

1. Prioritize Connection, Not Attention

Everyone knows that one person who would do pretty much anything to get attention, someone who truly believes there’s no bad publicity.

If you are that person, then you already know how tiring it can get.

I used to be that provocative, annoying voice in the room just because I knew it would get a reaction. And it did.

So much so that I could see it on people’s faces the moment I entered a room: What’s she going to pull next?

And this slowly becomes a part of who you are. You don’t pass up a chance to do something dumb because – isn’t that what people expect?

To become a better person, it’s important to understand where all of these bids for attention come from.

They come from a place of loneliness and disconnection, and a little bit of spite.

Life gets better once you stop trying to make everyone notice you and select a handful of the right people to connect with.

When you’re fulfilled, socially and emotionally, attention from strangers means nothing.

2. Be Yourself, But Don’t Rub It in People’s Faces

Growing up, we’ve all been told to just be ourselves without apology. Rock your style, blast your music, don’t care what anyone thinks…

This kind of works while you’re a teenager, but once you leave high school, it becomes apparent just how important people’s opinions of you can be.

No, this doesn’t mean you should pretend to like the things you don’t. It simply means you should tone it down when you’re surrounded by gente que don’t get it.

I had this ugly habit of doubling down on weirdness precisely around the people who clutch their pearls, again, just to be provocative.

To become a better, more authentic person, it’s important to ask if you’re only doing and wearing certain things to get a reaction.

If you’re truly doing something because you love it, you can just do it for yourself.

3. Choose Silence When You Have Nothing Good to Say

At some point, I took a hard look at my social interactions and realized I’d been saying a bunch of stupid things that made me cringe late at night.

Well, I might be a bit harsh on myself here. I essentially couldn’t pick my audience. Not everyone resonates with all of our jokes and opinions.

Little by little, I decided that silence is a much better alternative.

So, to do better for yourself, kill that desperate need to participate.

And more importantly, surround yourself with people who get you.

Either way, I learned that a well-timed silence and palabras that actually carry sustancia make me stand out in a positive way. People respect those who weigh their words carefully.

Anything else was just empty noise.

4. Do Things Because They Matter to the People You Love

We all have varying priorities in life. Someone keeps a spotless house, while someone else leaves the dust be and calls it lived-in.

But to be better people, we shouldn’t only think of ourselves.

Your family and your partner want certain things for you because they care

Maybe having a full-time job isn’t that important to you, but it provides a sense of safety and helps your parents relax because you’re finally independent.

Grades are another good example. It takes so little effort to be a decent student, and it can make your family proud and happy.

Of course, stick to your guns where it matters and don’t always do what others want.

But some things, especially if they can mejore su vida, are worth doing even when you don’t feel like it.

5. Be Honorable

I know how old-fashioned this sounds, but honor is still appreciated.

Maybe not online, but in real life, in the neighborhood, and at work, people gravitate toward those who are veraz y trabajador.

To live a better life, try to be punctual and come through when you promise to do something.

And when you can’t or simply don’t want to do something, just say it right away. Being flaky wastes people’s time and makes you lose their respect.

People can relax around someone whose intenciones son clear.

Become that person, and your life will transform!

6. Set Boundaries on Time

Becoming a better person doesn’t mean para complacer a la gente. You have the right to say no and call out bad behavior.

However, most people don’t understand the importance of timing.

When someone does something you find rude or hurtful, the worst thing you can do is stay quiet and let it pile on.

Unless you say something, it will happen again and again, until you finally snap.

A avoid bigger conflicts, just speak your mind in the moment.

It brings a deep sense of peace to your relationships and helps you become better at communication.

7. Love People How They Need to Be Loved

This is incredibly important if you want to have flourishing relationships and friendships.

Most of us are aware of the different love languages, and yet, people usually stop at identifying their own.

You can hear them state that their love language is physical touch or quality time, but how many people can name what their partner needs to feel loved?

It’s tempting to just show love in a way that’s convenient and natural for us, but that doesn’t always come across.

Relationships break because of this!

So, to become a better person, notice or ask your loved ones what they need from you.

You might think they want an expensive gift when it’s affirmation they actually crave.

Observe what makes their eyes sparkle and do that thing. Complacency won’t get you far.
