The Hauntings Of Conscience- How To Deal With Guilt And Shame?

Life is beautiful, but it’s also hard. We have so many things on our minds, but when on top of everything we have to deal with the hauntings of our subconscious mind, it’s very hard to feel good.

Conscience is a mother-in-law whose visit never ends. – H. L. Mencken

Having A Conscience Means Having A Good Heart

When your conscience keeps torturing you, it seems like you can’t catch a break.

You feel tired and helpless. You feel like everything you do is useless. Your conscience can’t leave you alone sometimes.

But, try to change your perspective before you look for some solutions.

If your conscience is torturing you, it just means you’re a good person.

You’re aware of your mistakes. You’re aware of yourself.

You feel bad for something you did. You’re compassionate toward others and now your mistakes are haunting you.

Of course, it’s still desirable to get rid of those feelings because you can’t grow with them.

You still have to move on and accept your past. Nobody is perfect and everyone’s mistakes can be painful.

You’re a good person because you feel guilty and ashamed, but sometimes you have to put an end to all these feelings.

Sometimes you have to find a few ways to help yourself.

1. Accept Your Mistakes

In many cases, your mistakes weren’t even mistakes. Sometimes you just have to do something whether you like it or not.

Sometimes you can’t avoid certain things and certain people are negatively affected by everything.

However, this doesn’t mean that you won’t feel guilty. Even if you haven’t done anything, it’s possible to feel guilty.

If you know that you were responsible for causing bad things, then it’s even worse.

In the end, you have to own up to your situation. You have to take responsibility for your actions.

You have to make peace with everything because it happened and you can’t change anything right.

It happened and you have to find peace now. You have to accept your past and guilt.

Your conscience will leave you alone when you become brave enough to embrace your wrong actions.

2. Do Better

Your conscience will always torture you if you don’t do something good with your life.

If you truly feel guilty about your past mistakes, you have to do better in life.

You have to be a better person. You have to be someone who won’t make the same mistakes.

You have to be the person that will help people. Be someone who guides and inspires.

Don’t be someone who thinks that burden your conscience. Don’t be someone who does shameful things.

When you become a better individual, you will get away from your guilt. You will feel like you paid for your mistakes.

You can redeem yourself if you’re ready for a different path in life. You can be the bigger person who knows the difference between right and wrong.

I know that it’s hard to be better. It’s overwhelming and you don’t know where to start.

My advice is – start small. Don’t expect a lot and just follow your heart.

Try to be kind and compassionate. Try to set a good example for others and yourself.

3. Forgive

One of the most important things to move on and heal your conscience is forgiveness.

Spiritual and religious people know that forgiveness is one of the most significant things for peace and comfort in life.

If you want to feel calm and free, it’s important to forgive yourself and others.

One of the best things you can do is ask for forgiveness. Ask God and the higher forces to forgive you.

Ask others to forgive you too. Even if they don‘t forgive you, you will feel like you’ve done something useful.

You will feel like you’ve tried to make things better. It’s scary to do this, but have faith that it will help.

If needed, forgive others. Sometimes we’re burdened by the things we’ve done to someone, but we try to justify it by the fact they’ve also done something bad.

Don’t hold a grudge and be forgiving. Life happens, and people make mistakes.

Finally, no matter how other things work out for you, you have to forgive yourself.

Even if you did something bad and no one else wants to forgive you, you have to be merciful with yourself.

You can’t jump out of your own skin. You can’t be someone else. But, every person deserves a chance, and you have to give one to yourself.

Forgive yourself because you won’t do it again. Forgive yourself because you need peace.

Forgive yourself because you deserve to start a new chapter in your life.

4. Don’t Be So Critical

Sometimes it feels like you’re the worst person in the world. You simply can’t accept your mistakes.

You could forgive yourself and move on, but you don’t want to. You think that you deserve to feel like this.

Once again, you have to know that other people make mistakes too.

You’re not perfect, but other people have done worse things. Other people are also guilty of something.

We’re all humans, and you can’t be so hard on yourself. You can’t be so critical all the time.

You can work hard to live a better life. You can do so many great things worthy of admiration.

You probably already did some amazing things in your life, but you’re not acknowledging them.

Your guilt and shame will leave when you understand that it’s not the end of the world. Life goes on, and it’s time to move forward too.

En conclusión

Your conscience can often help you to fix your mistakes and mend some broken connections.

Your conscience can help you to become a better person who can see things realistically.

But, when you feel controlled by your conscience, it’s time to fight against it. It’s time to focus on more important things.

Every emotion in life needs to be balanced. Too much of anything will lead to problems.
