Glorifying God never requires more physical work from us. You don’t need to attend more services or pray longer unless you want to.
Living your faith meant including Him in small, ordinary things that make up everyday life.
The whole secret is that you go about your day with Him in mind.
If you’re looking for some concrete ways to do that, keep reading!
1. Give Your Mornings to God
Before you get up to brush your teeth and before you get a hold of your phone, devote your first waking moments to God, first.
Prove to yourself that He is your priority by reaching for Him before anything else.
Whatever gets your attention first in the morning tends to shape the course of your whole day.
If notifications come first, your day starts with urgency. If it’s scrolling, your day starts with distraction.
If you’re looking to feel closer to God, this is such a simple and effortless way to do it. Simply say a short prayer in the morning, or think about what you’ve read in scripture the day before.
These sixty seconds of silence and gratitude promote your faith, but they also help you start your day more refreshed and optimistic.
2. Turn Effort Into Worship
Worship doesn’t only happen in the church. You don’t always need music, or even scripture!
Much of our lives happen away from anything that’s even remotely spiritual. We spend hours doing chores, accounting, writing emails, working out, etc.
So, how about you include God in everything you’re doing, spiritual or not?
Doing this can improve your connection to Him as well as your life!
Since you’re devoting these moments to God, you need to be present and devoted to what you’re doing.
Glorify Him through excellence, even when the things you’re doing seem completely mundane.
Keeping Him in your mind keeps you from cutting corners. You’re more present and more focused on what you’re doing.
This improves your overall quality of life.
3. Obey Him in the Little Things
Great acts of faith are wonderful, but we don’t all get a chance to do those.
Spiritual growth can also happen in the unglamorous moments of everyday life, when you choose God and obedience over sin.
It can look as simple as apologizing to someone you’ve upset. You have a deliberate choice between pride and forgiveness, and choosing the latter brings you closer to Him.
Or get on with the job you’ve been putting off. Defeat procrastination and sloth.
Be honest そして show up; do all those small but meaningful things you’ve been putting off because they’re inconvenient.
These moments aren’t too small to matter. In His eyes, even the smallest obedience counts.
Today, already, there must be something small you know you should do. Start with that!
4. Choose Your Words Kindly
Faith is sometimes framed as something that exists between you and God, like a private relationship.
However, we shouldn’t forget that we are all His children. You can glorify Him by loving His other children.
Don’t use the voice you’ve been blessed with to tear people down or spread gossip. Speak kindly whenever you can. Praise and uplift people.
Mind your tone at work and around family when you’re tired.
Those cranky moments are the most important, because they’re the tripping stone for most people.
By this, I don’t mean spread fake positivity. You’ll naturally get angry, tired, argumentative, and everything else.
But when you’re in a place to choose your words, choose those that would please Him.
5. Praise Him Before the Prayer Is Answered
Gratitude is easy when the good news arrives, but what about before?
God’s timing doesn’t always fit our expectations, so it can seem as though our prayers go unanswered forever.
Your faith is tested precisely in that period, before He answers. Do you continue to believe and praise God, or are you doubting Him?
Being grateful, even when there’s uncertainty, is a true act of faith.
Trusting Him even when you’re not sure where it’s all going proves その your faith doesn’t depend on getting your way.
Feeling thankful when your prayers are answered is easy.
That kind of patience matters more than you think.
6. Be Mindful of Your Thoughts
It can often feel as though our thoughts are impossible to control. After all, if we could easily control what we think, would anyone even do bad things?
Even working on having purer, kinder thoughts is a form of worship.
This change happens slowly. Often, you’re not even able to tell the difference until months later, when you realize how unburdened and happy you feel.
And our thoughts are mostly shaped by the things we see, hear, consume, and prioritize.
Prioritize goodness and God, and your mind will feel lighter. However, when you prioritize distractions, violence, bad news, indecency, you suffer.
Being intentional about what you let into your mind is necessary for your well-being.
Involve God by devoting this effort to Him. He can be your motivation as you learn better habits.
