On May 1st, 2026, the Wheel of the Year turns to Beltane, the festival of fire and fertility.
It honors the God and Goddess and their life-giving union, and for the first time since 1988, this day is greeted by the full moon!
This phase of the moon represents the Goddess in Her ultimate form, as the Mother, making this a rare collision of energies.
However, this full moon is in Scorpio, meaning that beneath the celebratory fire, we’ll have to face our shadows.
1. The First Beltane Full Moon After 38 Years
To truly grasp the magnitude of this event, we have to remember the last time it occurred, which was in 1988!
That was a time of massive global shifts, much like the ones happening right now. Scorpio brings its intense energy and affects us all.
When a full moon lands on Beltane, it creates a paradox. Beltane is a fire festival, a celebration of summer and light.
This moon, however, is traditionally a time of illumination and silence, when we turn inward.
Having a full moon in Scorpio on a day dedicated to the radiant Goddess is a jarring contrast! The Beltane bonfire is sure to cast a deep, revealing shadow.
This rare celestial combination is forcing us to face our own hidden shadows before we get to celebrate vitality.
2. The Ancient Fires
Beltane is the happiest time of the year for those who celebrate it. It’s the moment when spring bursts into summer!
Historically, it was one of the most important festivals for our ancestors, a time when the Earth is literally throbbing with life, and the energy is fertile.
The cattle and the fruits of the land multiply, making us all grateful to be alive.
At the center of this festival is the Divine Feminine in her maiden aspect, dancing and uniting with the Horned God.
Beltane celebrates unapologetic pleasure and creative fire.
It’s a time when spirituality separates from quiet meditation and becomes physical, potent, wild.
On Beltane, we celebrate the beauty of being alive!
3. The Power of the Goddess
During Beltane, the Goddess becomes the May Queen. She appears as the force of nature that refuses to be tamed.
It’s especially important to celebrate Her awakening in our day, as modern culture has largely stripped away the sacredness of feminine power, often reducing it to just an aesthetic.
The Beltane Goddess represents our creative life force, intuition, sensuality, and our right to openness.
When we honor Her, we are honoring the parts of ourselves that society tells us to suppress.
She reminds us that being small and obedient isn’t in our nature and connects us back to our burning essence.
4. Full Moon in Scorpio
A full moon in Scorpio is never not chaotic.
Scorpio is the sign of the underworld; it rules over death, rebirth, hidden truths, and psychological depth.
When the moon is full here, it shines a light on all the things we’ve been running from: fears, toxicity, unhealthy attachments, and unhealed wounds.
This moon calls us to speak radical truth. Scorpio demands authenticity, and we won’t have a choice but to leave our fakeness behind.
It asks the most terrifying question: what in your life needs to die so that something better can be born?
5. How It Will Affect Us
Expect to feel things もっと見る 凄く under this full moon.
Because it lands precisely on Beltane, the contrast between the festival’s fiery energy and the deep waters of Scorpio will overwhelm many of us.
You might feel an urge to make radical changes in your relationships, career, lifestyle, worldview…
Your emotional boundaries will be tested; things that seemed tolerable might send you over the edge.
Scorpio rules intimacy, so you might find yourself craving deeper, more intimate connections while rejecting superficiality.
もし 直感 is naturally strong, now it gets even stronger.
It’s your chance to purge anything you’re not a 100% excited for!
6. How to Honor This Event
How to celebrate this specific combination of energies? We’re talking fire and water here, so we’ll have to get creative with our rituals.
To honor the Beltane flames, you might light a red candle or light a bonfire.
Write down the things you’re ready to let go, like habits and anxieties, and safely burn the paper, allowing the fire to consume the old you.
To honor the full moon in Scorpio, draw a ritual bath with sea salt and protective herbs (rosemary is always a good choice).
Take the time to meditate in the bath and imagine as the water washes away your past, leaving you renewed.
This dual ritual celebrates both the May Queen and the Scorpio moon, bringing total rebirth.
7. Celebrating Beltane in the Modern World
In many parts of the world, May 1st is an inherent fire and spring festival.
Though it’s mainly Labor Day in the US, some communities also commemorate May Day, including Maypole dancing, making flower crowns, having picnics, etc.
It’s the perfect excuse to light a fire and spend time in nature. Essentially, all it takes is a willingness to connect with the Earth.
Remember to also honor your 官能; eat good food, dance, laugh, walk barefoot, and connect with your partner.
Wear something that makes you feel alive and unapologetically enjoy life!
8. Personal Transformation
May 1st of 2026 is going to be a time of 開始.
The full moon in Scorpio will make it a challenging time, but we’re going to come out stronger on the other side.
At the same time, the Goddess calls us to reject societal expectations and live naturally. Stop playing small and hiding your magic.
We’re all made of light and shadow, and it’s time to embrace them both!
Meditate, pursue your passions, and celebrate life. That’s how you answer Her call.
