In today’s day and age, it’s hard to live without a smartphone. Everyone from your granny to your little 5-year-old cousin has one.
Smartphones rule the world and it’s not really surprising.
They have many advantages, such as keeping contact with relatives that live far away, quickly making plans with friends or researching a topic that your date is practically a professional in.
Because of these fast ways of doing things, we started living fast too and we forget to take a break.
Here are 10 reasons why you should ditch your phone today!
1. Why Should I Not Look At My Phone Today

All of us are guilty of spending too much time on our phones. It’s a great distraction when you need to study or clean the house.
But I’ve got a challenge for you! Let’s put our phones down for today and live in the moment and not through a screen.
2. You’ll Watch Your Kid Grow Up Through A Screen

Children are our biggest accomplishments and they grow up in the blink of an eye. Why miss those precious moments because you were trying to open the camera on your phone?
I’m not saying you shouldn’t take any pictures at all, because those are still memories and we need those as well.
All I’m saying is, enjoy the moment now, take pictures later!
3. You’re Missing The Beauty Around You

We’re constantly glued to our phones, even when we go for a hike!
Don’t go walking in the woods or through a park just to take pictures and scroll on your phone.
Look around you and enjoy the beauty of the changing seasons. Notice the vivid colors of flowers そして sun rays passing through tree branches.
言い換えれば、"忖度 "である、 go touch some grass!
4. Will It Matter In 70 Years?

I need you to stop and think, every time you think something is an emergency, ask yourself ‘Will it matter in 70 years?‘
If the answer is ‘いいえ‘ then it likely isn’t a real emergency.
Put down that phone and get your priorities straight!
5. Copycat Alert!

Getting back to the topic of children, they are like sponges, a blank page if you will. Whatever they see you do, they mirror it.
Children need activity, attention そして コミュニケーション. They can’t have those essential things when their parent is on their phone. Your phone is not your baby!
Do you really want your kids to grow up detached and alienated from you? No?
Then put that phone down and go spend some time with your kids!
6. No Quality Time With Friends

Are you that person whose friends roll their eyes at every time their phone rings? はい? Then you need to take a break from it.
It may start with something small or really important, like a work e-mail, but that easily spirals into ‘Oh look I have some unopened DMs that I really need to answer right now!’
You really don’t have to do that, but it’s easy to get distracted. Your phone doesn’t need to be next to your plate at the dinner table.
Show your friends that you care by putting them before that Insta message!
7. You’re Not Performing Well At Work

Maybe you really were researching something for work or replying to a work-related message, but one picture of a dog or a funny meme and all that work is long forgotten.
Soon you’ll spiral into a vortex of memes and videos and you won’t get any work done. Sure it can happen to anyone from time to time, but it’s easy to fall into bad habits.
Your boss sure won’t appreciate you scrolling through TikTok on the clock!
8. You Don’t Get Any Exercise

It’s really not that complicated, being stuck to our phones makes us lazy. It’s hard to get moving when every next meme is funnier than the last.
Leave the phone and go for a run, or at least use it for good and find some exercise videos!
9. Better Sleep

The blue light from our phones tricks our brains into thinking it’s daytime and this is obviously not good for your bedtime routine.
I know that the next episode of your favorite show is tempting, but it’s really not worth sacrificing a good night’s sleep for that.
Ditching your phone a couple of hours before bed will make you feel more energized in the morning!

10. You’ll Be More Productive

Try keeping an eye on how much time you spend on your phone. Even if it’s 2-3 hours, imagine what you could have done during that time.
You could exercise, read a little bit, cook dinner, clean out the garage, and basically anything else that you’ve been meaning to do. But where has all of that time gone? To your phone.
Give up scrolling and get your ass moving!
11. Your Phone Isn’t Huggable

Your phone can’t bring you comfort, nor can it give you love. Your loved ones will be bursting with joy when they see you ditched the phone and came to talk to them!
If you’re on your phone then you can’t see their happy faces, and there’s no better comfort than the people you love!
12. Challenge Accepted!

Of course, we shouldn’t be fully against phones. Staying in touch and creating memories is key to maintaining a happy lifestyle.
What you should consider is taking a break and a step back to enjoy other things in life.
But if you’re reading this article on your smartphone, definitely don’t ditch it! Rules are there to be broken after all!
