When someone is disrespectful, most people think they should argue their point, try to teach them a lesson, or somehow get back at them. However, you will notice that most strong people don’t create any drama when dealing with these types of situations.
The real power in this situation lies in protecting your energy from the negative type of energy that people give you when disrespecting you. When you are trying to punish another person for being disrespectful, you are not trying to be mean or to hurt them.
You are trying to punish them by denying them access to your time, energy, attention, or emotions. These types of strategies emphasize emotional maturity, confidence, and boundary setting.
1. Remove Your Attention
Your attention is one of the most valuable resources that you possess, yet most people do not recognize how much power your アテンション has.
When you continue to give someone repeated access to your energy after they have already disrespected you, you are unintentionally rewarding them for their poor behavior.
