6 Methods of Meditation to Improve and Relax the Spirit and Body

It is believed that meditation represents focusing the mind on one thing at a time to achieve a sense of calm, and relaxation and improve self-awareness.

Ancient people believed that meditation could have a great influence on your body and because of that, they spent 20 minutes in meditation every day.

The thing is that in everyday life we do several things at the same time, so we are focused on several activities. That makes it difficult to center thoughts during the meditation.

1. Yoga Meditation

This is the goal of the meditation yoga technique in which these two methods are combined. If you practice yoga, you must feel spirituality or some lightness and peace.

Mediative awareness during yoga practice will help in better posture, relaxation, and discomfort, but also focus on the present moment. During the exercises, you think about every moment you make.

Also, you need to feel every muscle and every part of your body. Respiração is very important in yoga. If you don’t breathe in the right way, your thoughts start wandering. So, you need to bring your focus back to performing.

2. Metta Meditation

This method of meditation is often called meditation of love and kindness. It is directed toward spiritual and emotional development, but also the awakening of a noble state of consciousness.

With attention to breathing and sensations of our body, we think about what makes us a unique person and what our qualities are. With this meditation, we tell ourselves that we only want good things, strength, health, and love

There are other positive qualities that we want to achieve. The goal of this meditation is to encourage positive thinking and intentions.

3. Spiritual Meditation

Spiritual meditation is usually related to a religion and it is called Oração in many religions. The key to this meditation is to connect with something that we believe is bigger than us, and more important. 

Through this meditation, we realize and understand our own mistakes and qualities, and give them meaning. Everything is connected with the higher force we believe in. 

4. Transcendental Meditation

This type of meditation is used to calm the stress and anxiety of people with mental disabilities. It is intended for all generations, for all those who feel they need to achieve their peace.

Transcendental meditation doesn’t have to be related to religion, but it is connected with spirituality.

5. Guided Meditation

As its name suggests, guided meditation involves a person who guides you through meditation and tells you what to focus on and how to think. This type of meditation should be guided by a professional person.

Guided meditation is usually practiced by beginners who are just learning. Before you decide to do this type of meditation, first of all, do some research to see the quality of meditation.

6. Meditation With a Mantra

This type of meditation refers to words that have been recited and repeated, and which many people focus on during the meditation or in everyday life. Mantra works first on the mind

To practice this meditation, you need to find a quiet place, sit down, take a few deep breaths, and exhale. Then you need to breathe slowly while repeating certain words.

First of all, you have to choose which Mantra you practice. For example, we will take the “so hum” Mantra, which means “I am”.

You perform this Mantra in a way that you quietly repeat “so” with every breath, and “hum” with every exhalation.
