Every woman has been forced into a box at some time in her life. We’ve struggled with finding our space in the world for years. We still do!
If you’re too independent or loud, you’re not feminine enough. ‘You’ll never get a husband!‘
And if you’re someone who just wants to raise a family, you’re still a lesser woman. Because ‘how can you not work?‘
Discovering what kind of femininity you possess, might just help you in navigating a man’s world and help remove any blocks in your feminine energy!
What are Feminine Archetypes?
An archetype is a persona that represents a common type of behavior.
Each of the 7 Feminine Archetypes represents different ways in which women express themselves.
Obviously, every woman is different and we can’t all be grouped into 7 categories. But these 7 categories also reflect our capabilities.
The Feminine Archetypes can give us an insight into which roles we play in life, as well as provide us with a step-by-step guide for our self-expression.
1. The Mother
In order to resonate with this archetype, you don’t need to have children. The Mother is someone who is nurturing, supportive, caring and compassionate.
She puts everyone else’s needs above her own and that can be a problem. But she finds great satisfaction in helping others and her welcoming energy creates a safe haven for others.
In modern culture, you might recognize the Mother in people like Mother Theresa or Princess Diana.
2. The Maiden
The Maiden archetype represents a youthful outlook on life, innocence and playfulness. This archetype is mostly depicted as a young woman full of life and open to learning new things.
But this also makes her very naïve and she may remain in the role of a victim if she doesn’t evolve and find her own strength.
But as she is the most unawakened of all the 7 archetypes, she has the room to grow and find her purpose in life.
Some people who fit the Maiden archetype are Josephine Baker and Lucille Ball.
3. The Huntress
This archetype has the warrior spirit inside her. She embodies strength, independence and autonomy.
The Huntress will face any challenge that comes her way but she can also be out of touch with her emotions.
Out of the 7 archetypes, she is the most independent one and her presence inspires others to find their inner warrior and ‘Wild Woman.’
Many feminist movements use the symbol of the Huntress to promote empowerment of women and some of the most popular Huntresses are Serena Williams and Angela Davis.
4. The Lover
The Lover is captivating, sensual and confident. This archetype is deeply in touch with her emotions and can attract attention without any problems.
The Lover can struggle with commitment and finding a stable partner. They most often seek external validation and have unrealistic ideals.
Some of the most prominent Lovers are Marilyn Monroe and Rihanna.
5. The Mystic
The Mystic is someone who is deeply connected to their inner self. She is highly spiritual and calm.
This archetype enjoys solitude and harmony, creating a safe space within herself, but with a very high risk of self-isolation.
But with her peaceful approach to life, she also guides others in finding balance and calmness.
In modern times, you can recognize the Mystic in Angelina Jolie or Gwyneth Paltrow.
6. The Sage
The Sage represents wisdom and knowledge. People of this archetype are insightful, logical and truthful.
People turn to her for advice and she always advises them to speak the truth and seek knowledge.
The Sage isn’t afraid to move forward and onto better things, she very easily lets go of her past self and works on improving the new her.
But she needs to be careful to not get stuck in the future. She focuses so much on what hasn’t happened yet, that she doesn’t see what’s happening now.
Some of the most popular Sages are Oprah Winfrey and Michelle Obama.
7. The Queen
The Queen is a natural-born leader. She is loyal, confident, ambitious, and most importantly, she knows how to get what she wants and nothing will stop her.
She often attracts attention with her demanding presence, but this can lead to feelings of jealousy when the spotlight isn’t on her.
You can find this powerful archetype in people like Beyoncé and Elizabeth Taylor.
Letting the Divine Guide Us
Each archetype shows a different set of skills and personalities.
When women tap into their femininity and the archetype that best suits them, they unlock many strengths that help them grow and overcome obstacles.
Note that you don’t have to pick just one! We are all constantly evolving and changing so the archetype that you resonated with 5 years ago, may not be the one you resonate with right now!
These archetypes are here to make us realize that we can be whatever and whoever we want.
