The Soul’s Qualities That Bring You Closer to God

The Soul’s Qualities That Bring You Closer to God

Certain traits we carry in our hearts can either bring us closer to or distance us from the divine.

Having the divine in our lives is a huge blessing, so it is important not to reject that powerful force through our actions and soul state.

When our soul carries these characteristics, God is always next to us.

A Humble Heart That Seeks Truth

Humility enables you to recognize your mistakes and your restrictions, helps you to rely on God’s guidance, and creates room for you to experience forgiveness and internal healing.

When you approach life from a place of pride, you become defensive, close yourself off, and lose sight of the spiritual road map and God’s will for your life.

When you approach life from a perspective of humility, you allow yourself to be shaped by God, who can lead you to spiritual clarity and peace of mind. Therefore, be humble.

A Spirit Willing To Forgive

Forgiveness is a powerful spiritual act. Holding anger, resentment, or bitterness blocks our hearts from hearing divine guidance. Forgiveness doesn’t excuse the damage done to us; it liberates us from the emotional imprisonment these negative feelings place upon us.

When we forgive, we allow ourselves to give way to peace coming into our lives. God will come closer to hearts that release grudges because such hearts choose to heal rather than seek revenge.

Forgiveness helps us develop compassion for others, softens our spirit, and removes obstacles from our emotional world, preventing us from specific areas of our spiritual lives.

A person who has healed from the pain of their past will have a direct line to their spiritual being, experience inner freedom, and have a lighter heart.

A Genuine Desire To Do Good

People who genuinely seek to help others through small acts of goodness attune themselves to God through their hearts. By wanting to help, encourage, and support others, you demonstrate your kindness, honesty, and empathy.

Therefore, when your intentions are based on goodness, you have the potential to become a reflection of God’s love every day. You may not perform great acts, but you can still perform small, honest, patient, and understanding acts that reflect your goodness.

God will find you in those little moments where your heart chooses the right action, even when no one is watching.

A Heart That Seeks Peace Instead of Conflict

Some souls reach God because they want to maintain a state of calm and a clear conscience, choosing peace over victory in arguments or in proving themselves right.

They do not allow themselves to become passive; instead, they purposely protect their own inner calm. To make peace an active choice, you must make a conscious step to avoid unnecessary conflicts with others, not to use harmful words against others, and to remain grounded during a conflict.

This becomes aligned with God’s energy, as peace is one of God’s most easily identifiable attributes.

A Soul That Practices Gratitude

Gratitude alters your spiritual state. When you habitually recognize what you’re grateful for (even minor things), you’re more receptive to the guidance, comfort, and clarity that God has to offer you.

Gratitude affects the way you perceive your surroundings. Instead of concentrating on what’s lacking in your life, you focus on the things that are going well for you.

This perspective fosters greater trust in God and establishes a deeper relationship between you and the Divine. Since those with grateful hearts live with love rather than lack, the Divine is drawn toward those with grateful hearts.

In addition, gratitude causes you to be more gentle, lighter, and aware of the daily miracles around you. Gratitude is one of the most uncomplicated yet powerful ways to connect with the Divine.

A Willingness To Let Go and Trust

A key quality of spirituality is letting go, which means trusting God and others on your journey. When you stop worrying about control, fear, or overthinking, you are allowing God’s work.

Having faith does not mean that all your worries will go away; it simply means you will no longer have to shoulder the burden of life by yourself. The act of surrender creates space for the unfolding of God’s perfect timing vs. the constant need to know the outcome.

When you learn to surrender and have faith, you create an atmosphere for you to be at peace, receive spiritual protection, and experience God. When you learn to let go and trust God, you will naturally experience the divine strength and divine wisdom of the divine.
