The Bible tells many stories of people who went through intense struggles.
At times, it seemed as though these moments would break them, but these moments were God’s way of preparing them for the blessings that lay ahead.
These struggles are not random. They’re necessary steps to develop character and humility needed to handle true prosperity.
Let’s look at 7 trials God uses to prepare you for the abundant life He has in store for you!
1. Identity
Sometimes, when life overwhelms you, you might start to question who you really are.
God often allows us to go through a crisis of identity so that it can strip away everything superficial. That way, you find your true self in Him.
Moses doubted himself, asking, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh?” before God called him to lead.
This tells us that God often uses these moments to shake our confidence in ourselves and redirect our focus to our true purpose.
Once you learn who you are in His eyes, you come one step closer to reaching prosperity.
When you go through this struggle, you’re being prepared to carry out divine plans.
2. Separation
God sometimes pulls us away from familiar comfort zones, like old friends, habits, and places, to prepare us for future prosperity.
It’s uncomfortable and lonely at times, but it’s necessary.
Remember Abraham; God told him to leave his homeland and family, promising a new land and blessing.
This is a separation designed to shift your focus from the familiar to the divine.
As you go through this crisis, God is removing distractions and creating space for His blessings. You might lose something, but you’ll gain what truly matters – His grace and prosperity.
The separation prepares your heart to receive God’s promises without old baggage.
3. Integrity
Before God gives you prosperity, He tests your integrity; your loyalty and character.
Joseph’s story is a perfect example of this. He refused to compromise his morals even when tempted or mistreated.
Genesis 39:9 shows how he chose righteousness over immediate gain.
This test of integrity reveals what’s truly in your heart. They’re not setting you up to fail, but preparing you to handle more responsibility and blessings.
When you endure these struggles, God trusts you with greater influence and riches.
He moves you to build a strong, unwavering character that can stand the pressures of prosperity without losing your soul.
4. Waiting
Waiting can be one of the hardest trials. You feel like you’re stagnating while everything is actually being worked out out of sight.
Psalm 40:1 reminds us about the importance of patience: “I waited patiently for the Lord.”
During these silent times, God is allowing you to develop perseverance and trust. Waiting isn’t punishment; it’s preparation.

5. Hardship

Isaiah 48:10 says, “I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tried you in the furnace of affliction.”

6. Faith

2 Chronicles 20:12 shows King Jehoshaphat’s cry: “We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on You.”

7. Surrender

Luke 22:42 records Christ’s prayer, “Not my will, but Yours, be done.”
True prosperity requires surrender because God’s plans are higher than ours. You have to trust Him enough to let go of control and personal ambitions.
