Most people think curses are relics of the past, something that existed in less enlightened times.
I sometimes find myself thinking that, too, but then I recall all the suffering they had caused the people I personally know.
It’s a quiet kind of evil that sneaks into your life, disrupting peace, health, relationships, and sanity!
Here are 5 deeply personal accounts of people who had to deal with curses, what they endured, and how they freed themselves.
They put in perspective just how easy it is to ruin someone’s life with nothing but bad intentions!
1. The Rabbit Head
One of my grandfather’s many sisters has always been cruel to my grandmother. She called her names and constantly tried to create conflict in her marriage.
But her worst attempt was revealed when a gypsy woman approached the house, begging for some money.
Grandmother gave her a little change just to send her away, but the woman told her something that froze her in place: “You suffer from headaches, don’t you?”
And she did. She had been dealing with paralyzing headaches for months at that point!
The gypsy went on to tell her that something dead was buried in her backyard, and that whoever buried it wanted to curse her.
She also included clear instructions: the first person who comes asking for something when the curse is broken is the one who did it; give them nothing.
When she found the time, grandmother went looking for any signs that the ground in her backyard had been touched, and she found one.
She dug up a rabbit’s head.
Only a day or two later, that specific aunt came to see her, asking to borrow something.
2. The Object Under the Window
A close friend’s toddler had entered a phase where she cried inconsolably. There was no clear reason.
The doctor confirmed she wasn’t sick, and there were no signs of physical harm on her. Still, she cried to the point of getting a fever.
My friend had recently fought with a neighbor, and she claimed she had seen a woman snooping right outside her bedroom window.
On the ground, right under the window, she found a carefully wrapped object. She wouldn’t say what it was.
So, she threw it away, but it didn’t help. She insisted it was a curse and started looking for ways to be rid of it.
Ultimately, she decided to visit a local imam who’s known for helping with these kinds of things. He gave her a written amulet and told her what to do.
Only after following his instructions for a few days did the crying finally stop.
3. The Cursed Bedroom
I loved spending time at this friend’s house back in high school, but I quickly noticed something strange: she kept switching bedrooms with her sister.
Eventually, they told me why.
In the bigger room, they both experienced terribly vivid nightmares, so they took turns sleeping there to give each other a break.
They also heard strange sounds that no one else in their home could hear. They simply felt upset by that room, like it was haunted or cursed.
The house they lived in was old, even when they bought it, located in a remote area.
I helped them perform cleansing rituals multiple times, but they never felt like it was safe. The dark energy simply refused to leave.
4. A Family Misfortune
A family I’ve been extremely close to started experiencing a streak of bad luck so serious it felt like a curse.
It started out of nowhere. There were health issues, lay-offs, money troubles, tragedy, and conflict.
They became desperate, so they called a priest to bless the house. He told them he also felt the heaviness in the air.
The blessing, however, didn’t help. So, they went to see an imam, who instructed them exactly what to do when they go home.
He even told them he knew the name of the person who cursed their home, but he wouldn’t say. Instead, they’ll find out because that person will soon reach out and ask for something.
Essi performed the ritual as instructed, and that same evening, their next-door neighbor came knocking, asking to borrow some flour.
She revealed herself, and they, of course, didn’t give her anything.
5. The Mother-in-Law
My favorite aunt was rejected by her mother-in-law pretty much since the woman first met her.
However, my aunt married her son, got pregnant, and hoped things would settle down on their own. It only got worse.
Aside from the verbal abuse, her actual health started spiraling. She lost weight drastically and simply couldn’t get ahead in any area of life.
So, my grandmother, her mom, took a photo of her to a woman from our town who worked with curses.
The woman performed the “pouring of fear.”
This ritual involved melting lead and pouring it into cold water right above the photo. The lead cools and hardens in the water, creating various shapes, which are then interpreted.
I was there with my grandma as a child, and I remember wondering if it would even work since my aunt wasn’t there personally.
Her mother-in-law continued to be terrible, but she had found her strength.
