Understanding Your Element: Air Signs of the Zodiac

Understanding Your Element: Air Signs of the Zodiac

“This in India is named by the Sanskrit word prana;

In Tibet it is called sugs, in Akido, Japan, ki, and in China, chi.

By controlling its circulation throughout the body, man is able to attain

spiritual enlightenment or illumination.”

1. Duality of the Elements: The Essence of Life And a Force of Destruction

shutterstock

There are four classical elements in nature: Water, Fire, Air and Earth.

Each of them have its place in astrology, spirituality, magic and healing practices.

Witchcraft recognizes Spirit as one of the elements, and together, they represent each end of the Pentagram.

While Spirit is abstract, the other four elements are very real. We depend on them, breathe them, drink them, grow food from them and stay warm thanks to them.

They are the four sustainers of life. And at the same time, the greatest hazards.

The elements transcend everything else in our world. They are eterno, they preserve and destroy.

And despite humanity’s best efforts, there’s little we can do to truly control them.

2. The Air Element in Astrology

A set of three zodiac signs belongs to the element of Air: Gemini, Aquarius and Libra.

Air, as we all know too well, is the moving element.

It moves water to become turbulent, it’s essential for fire to burn brightly and it plays a key role in pollination.

Much like their element, the Air signs tend to be the innovators.

They’re communicative, easy to get along with and diplomatic.

They are likely to be alpha and omega in their working fields because they can keep an objective outlook.

Because of this, they tend to excel in the fields of science, journalism and communication.

However, just like the pleasant breeze can become the mighty wind completely out of nowhere, so do these signs tend to be moody, and at times superficial.

They can become very freddo if you offend or hurt them, and it’s questionable if you’ll ever be allowed back into their lives.

3. Air Sun Sign

Your Sun sign is the very sign you were born under. Come, it’s what you tell people when they ask which sign you are.

Being born under an Air sign means you’re likely intelligente and open to communication. You’re adaptable and an innovative thinker.

However, at the same time, you can be restless and easily bored

Your innovativeness and creativity could get trampled by how easily you get distracted.

4. Air Rising Sign

Thanks to this placement, you’re bound to be a good communicator.

Your Rising sign represents your behavior and how you let other people perceive you.

With a Rising Air sign, people see you as intellectual, curious, socially savvy and a little strange at times.

And although you’re above all a thinker and quite independent, you still crave the company of other people.

Objective, logical outlook is your strong suit, but at the same time, it makes you closed off.

In the eyes of others, you reject to sentire and aim to razionalizzare everything. This can become an obstacle in your relationships.

5. Air Moon Sign

Your Moon sign shapes your inner world. It affects your emotions and attitude towards expressing them.

Like the Rising sign, it’s calculated by the exact time and place of your birth, whereas your Sun sign depends only upon the date.

With an Air sign affecting your emotional and relationship patterns, you could experience trouble connecting with people. Especially in a romantic context.

You tend to be reserved and observant of your and others’ emotions instead of basking in them.

This could be offputting to potential partners if they seek openness and vulnerability.

6. Air’s Compatibility With the Other Elements

It’s fun to observe the way we behave around the people born under different elements.

To a degree, it’s like observing the literal elements come into contact with nature.

The reactions that come from these collisions are usually quite similar.

7. Air and Fire

This is a pairing to write home about!

Fire and Air have incredible dynamics – as in nature, so in the zodiac.

Air seeks to move and start something anew, while Fire needs its movement to burn bigger and brighter.

Although they have their differences, Air and Fire signs make for great friends and partners.

With the Air sign’s out-of-the-box thinking and the Fire sign’s drive for action, they’re able to truly bring out the best in each other.

8. Air and Earth

This pairing could help bring an Air sign down to earth for a bit when they get too airy.

Earth and Air signs can absolutely enjoy each other’s company, though if we’re talking romance, it’s not very likely to work.

It can easily turn from bringing an Air sign down to earth to just bringing them down.

At the same time, Earth signs like stability and are set in their ways.

In a relationship, both signs would have to go against their own nature to make it last.

9. Air and Water

There’s a lot of potential for a nice friendship between Air and Water signs.

Both are dreamers, creative thinkers and natural artists. They have so much to bond over.

When it comes to romance, though, they’re not compatible.

Water signs would be sure to stay unfulfilled by the lack of emotional vulnerability in the relationship.

On the other hand, Air signs would feel very put on the spot and uncomfortable if they’re constantly pressured to open up.

10. Air and Air

Two Air signs likely wouldn’t be able to shut up in each other’s company.

They’d have a chance to teach each other new things, share ideas and enjoy fun outings together.

This makes for a great friendship!

In romance, it wouldn’t be as easy. If both partners are staccato and objective with their emotions, their connection could start to feel superficiale.

Both are passionate about ideas, not people and feelings. It could work, but not effortlessly.

11. Gemini: The Communicator of the Zodiac

Gemini is the mutable Air sign.

It’s often characterized by its restless nature, its love of learning and being quite versatile.

They are likely to pursue many things at once, which also means they can’t actually devote all of themselves to anything.

Geminis get bored easily and tend to change their mind a lot.

Despite this, they’re usually social butterflies. Their intelligence and sense of humor naturally attracts people to them.

To be compatible with a Gemini, you’d have to be as fun and social as them.

Also, it would be best if you devote yourself to chasing your own hobbies and interests rather than them.

Let them come to you.

12. Aquarius: The Oxymoron of the Zodiac

shutterstock

Each zodiac sign is an enigma to a degree. And this goes especially for Aquarius.

To begin, it’s a fixed Air sign, which is funny even to type out.

This means that the airy and curious Aquarians are also set in their ways and very stubborn with their values.

Like Geminis, they enjoy discovering new things and interests, but only on their own terms.

If the moment isn’t right they can be the most rigid and close-minded people you’re able to imagine.

On top of this, they’re deeply humanitarian and well-meaning.

If you want a healthy friendship or romance with an Aquarius, give them space to work out their feelings and ideas, and try to keep the pressure minimal.
